Tesla Model Y in India

Tesla launched the Model Y in India as its first premium electric SUV. The price of the Model Y ranges between Rs. 59.89 lakh and Rs. 73.89 lakh (ex-showroom), and it is offered in four trims – Long Range RWD Full Self Driving, Long Range RWD, RWD Full Self Driving, and RWD.

Engine specifications

The Tesla Model Y is powered by a 60 to 75 kWh battery pack that produces 295 bhp and 420 Nm of torque. It comes paired with a single-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds and delivers an estimated driving range of 500 km on a single charge. Globally, the Model Y is also available in all-wheel-drive versions, though only rear-wheel-drive variants are currently planned for India.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of the Tesla Model Y reflects the brand’s clean and aerodynamic styling approach. It features sleek LED headlights with integrated DRLs, flush door handles for improved efficiency, and a coupe-inspired sloping roofline that gives it a sporty profile. At the rear, the connected LED taillamps and muscular stance enhance its premium SUV character. The addition of a panoramic glass roof adds both style and a sense of spaciousness.

Interior design & features

The cabin of the Model Y is modern, minimalist, and technology-focused. The dashboard is dominated by a 15.4-inch central touchscreen that controls most of the car’s functions, while rear passengers get an additional 8-inch display. The key interior features of the Model Y are: a premium 9-speaker audio system, wireless phone charging, leather upholstery with heated seats, dual-zone climate control, and multiple storage compartments. The panoramic glass roof not only adds to the cabin’s luxury appeal but also makes the interior feel brighter and roomier.

Safety

Tesla has equipped the Model Y with some of the most advanced safety systems in the EV segment. The car offers seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill assist, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera with reverse guidelines. The key safety highlight of the Model Y is the Autopilot driver-assist system, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and collision avoidance technology.

Rivals

In the Indian market, the Tesla Model Y rivals other premium electric SUVs such as the Audi e-tron, Mercedes-Benz EQC, and BMW iX.
