Mahindra Thar

Mahindra unveiled the all-new second-generation Thar in October 2020, after a ten-year hiatus. This famous new off-road vehicle is larger, better, and more contemporary than ever before.

Engine and Transmission
The Mahindra Thar has a 2-liter turbocharged petrol engine with 150 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque, as well as a 2.2-litre diesel engine with 130 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. Both come with a base 6-speed manual transmission and an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. Both powertrains come standard with a 4x4 drivetrain.

Features
Cruise control, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, halogen headlights with LED DRLs, electrically controlled AC, steering-mounted controls, and a digital MID in the instrument cluster are all standard features on the 2017 Mahindra Thar. The inside of the second-generation vehicle is likewise washable, and the roof panels are detachable.
The inside of the Thar has been overhauled by Mahindra and is now totally washable and drainable. The Thar has a contemporary interior, much as any modern hatchback or sedan. In the car, there is a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. In addition, the four-wheel-drive system is controlled by a manual gear stick. The Thar comes with a variety of features, including electronic driveline disconnect on the front axle, mechanical locking differential and brake locking differential, TPMS, ESP with rollover mitigation, a roll cage, dual airbags, snow chain provision for tyres, and Bluesense app connectivity, to name a few.

Safety
Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and a front seatbelt reminder are all standard safety equipment on the Mahindra Thar.

Rivals
The Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny are Thar's sole direct competitors, although it also competes with similarly priced small SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Renault Duster, and Nissan Kicks.
