Mahindra has always been known for building SUVs that feel tough and commanding, but with the BE.06 the brand enters a completely new era. This is Mahindra’s first step into the Born Electric lineup, and it combines futuristic design, cutting-edge EV tech, and premium interiors in a package that feels global yet tailored for India.

Performance and Range

The BE.06 is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 282 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. This is enough to launch the SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds. Power comes from a 79 kWh lithium-ion battery that delivers an impressive range of up to 683 km on a single charge. For daily use, AC charging options are available at 7.2 kW or 11.2 kW, while on long trips the 180 kW DC fast charger can replenish the battery in just 20 minutes.

Design

The BE.06 looks every bit as futuristic as Mahindra promised when unveiling the Born Electric vision. The sharp LED daytime running lights, projector headlamps, and sleek LED tail lamps give it a distinctive signature. At 4.3 metres long with a wide stance and 19-inch alloy wheels, the SUV feels muscular yet modern. A ground clearance of 207 mm makes it practical for Indian roads, while the 455-litre boot space keeps it family-friendly.

Interiors and Technology

Inside, the BE.06 feels more like a tech lounge than a traditional SUV. A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system dominates the dashboard, paired with a 16-speaker premium audio system. Wireless phone charging, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Google and Alexa integration make connectivity seamless. The front seats are ventilated with electric adjustment, while rear passengers enjoy adjustable headrests, rear AC vents, and a comfortable armrest. Automatic climate control, a cooled glove box, and a hands-free powered boot further enhance convenience.

Safety and Driver Assistance

Mahindra has equipped the BE.06 with seven airbags, including a driver knee airbag, along with ABS, traction control, ISOFIX mounts, and a 360-degree camera. Advanced driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic emergency braking place the BE.06 in the league of global EVs. These features not only protect but also reduce stress during highway drives.

Driving Experience

The BE.06 blends Mahindra’s SUV DNA with the instant punch of electric power. Acceleration is smooth and silent, making city commutes effortless. On the highway, adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist make long journeys relaxed. The suspension setup, with MacPherson struts in the front and a multi-link system in the rear, ensures a planted ride even on rough surfaces. Regenerative braking with four levels allows energy recovery, extending range and improving efficiency.
